Releasing our Trout into Ballinderry River 🐟
Our P7 pupils have been involved in the Ballinderry River Trust's Trout in the Classroom programme. This involved setting up a small trout hatchery in the classroom for the past 5 weeks allowing the children to monitor the water conditions daily and to watch the trout eggs hatch. Today they visited the Ballinderry River to investigate the water quality and to finally release the fish into the wild. We really enjoyed this project and we learned so much about the trout lifecycle and the Ballinderry River. All the boys and girls individually released a trout back into the Ballinderry River and they even got to give them a special name!
Thank you to Frank, Jillian and everyone at Ballinderry River Trust for allowing us to take part in the project and for all your support and guidance along the way 😁
