Children’s Mental Health Week

6th Feb 2025

This week we have chatted lots about our brain and thoughts, and our heart and feelings. We have named our different emotions and listened to a new story called The Colour Monster. We spoke about how we can recognise and sort out different emotions. We made a feelings chart to help us communicate how we are feeling to others. In order to help us stay calm and relaxed, we have practised different breathing techniques such as owl, dragon and fairy breathing. We also made playdough and discussed how soothing, stress relieving activities can help us to feel calm. Spending time with our friends is also important to our mental health so we played lots of lovely board games this week to encourage supportive conversations and quiet, calming activities. To finish our week, we spoke about what makes us unique and special, and how loved and valued we are by others. What a busy and brilliant week we have had!
