Bun Sale for 'Saphara Be the Change' Charity
Miss Leah Delaney (St. Mary's College Belfast Student) is currently in an 8 week placement with our P6 class and has provided the information below.
Saphara Be the Change is a charity based in Northern Ireland that works with schools in NI and India. They believe that education is the key to transforming the lives of children, with their mission being to ‘Inspire young people to create flourishing communities of justice and compassion empowering them to Be the Change in the world’.
I am grateful to have been selected along with fifteen other Year 3 students from St Mary's and Stranmillis University Colleges, to participate in a life-changing journey to India where we will visit Saphara's partner schools and work with teachers providing education to children living in extreme poverty, children for whom education is the key to making their dreams for change a reality.
Sadly, for many families, educating all of their children is a luxury beyond their reach, so every student teacher involved in the Be the Change India 2024 team is fundraising to ensure that more children can access the education that they deserve.
Every £100 raised will fund a full year's education, paying school fees, providing uniforms, shoes, midday meals, books and stationery. The money raised will also help to keep girls in the safety of education, protecting them from forced marriages and trafficking.
On Friday 9th February our P6 class will be having a BUN SALE to help raise funds for this very worthy charity!
All buns will be 50p each!
