Boys' Centenary Cup and Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Tyrone Football Finals

9th Jun 2022

What a great couple of days we had on Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th June when we held our Boys' Centenary Cup and took part in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Tyrone football finals (boys and girls' teams) in Garvaghey.

Centenary Cup

On Tuesday we welcomed Loup, Ardboe and Derrychrin to play against ourselves in the 2022 Centenary Cup. During the league stage there were some super individual and team performances and the games were of an extremely competitive and high standard. However, only two teams could go through to the final and it turned out to be St. Peter's Moortown v St. Patrick's Ardboe. Ardboe were seeking revenge after Moortown had beaten them in the league stage.

The final was a classic with some scores the likes of 'Ulster Champions - Derry' would have been proud of!

There was score for score with both teams defending superbly and attacking with skill. There was nothing between them at the end of normal time and so the game moved into a very exciting period of extra time.

St. Peter's took an early lead and moved into what seemed like a winning position at the start of the second period. However St Patrick's piled on the pressure and scored two quick goals in succession to clinch the cup.

Congratulations to St. Patrick's and a huge thanks to Loup and Derrychrin for a great days sport!!

Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Tyrone Football Finals

On Wednesday we set off to Garvaghey with both our boys and girls football teams to play in the Tyrone finals. The boys were in a tough group but battled hard and finished up 3rd which is a great achievement.

The girls team went one better and qualified for the final only to come runners up against a very strong Carrickmore team. We are so proud of both teams finishing 3rd and 2nd respectively out of all the schools in Tyrone.

Big Congratulations!
