Aaron Devlin Tournament
Today our boys and girls' teams played in the Aaron Devlin football tournament in Shamrock Park. This tournament was organised by Derrychrin P.S. and the club. It was a fantastic day of fabulous football.
Our girls were narrowly beaten by Derrychrin in the quarter final of the cup after defeating St. Canice Dungiven in some style. They played some lovely football throughout the tournament and can be proud after their super exploits last week in the Tyrone finals.
The boys' team put in a super display of football throughout the tournament today showing skill, heart and determination. They beat two of the pre-tournament favourites in Bellaghy and New Row on their way to the final against home team Derrychrin. These two teams had met recently in The Centenary Cup with only a point separating them, so an exciting final was anticipated. And exciting it was! Both teams drawing at half time - both teams drawing at fulltime - so first score extra time came next. Derrychrin were lucky enough to win possession from the throw in and scored with their first shot. Well done to Derrychrin on their victory. However, the Moortown boys have so much to be proud of today and no doubt they will have many footballing victories in years to come.
